Hello,
First of all, i saw a thread with approximately same problem but it is 40 months old and i didn't know if i will get any answer there.
However this is my problem. I have for a couple of years this Samsung R40, and it is working great, except the battery is dead before a year, and now i am having power issue with Ac Adapter.
The issue is this: When i start the laptop, it will give me only the green led light (for battery) and it wil work very well, BUT the battery it has to be on laptop to work.
This means in short words:
AC adapter + Battery = Laptop works (note: dead battery)
AC adapter only = Laptop doesn't work
Battery only = Laptop works (i mean i have borrow a battery from my friend because mine is dead and it worked well just on battery, however the upper TEST has been made with my dead battery)
Now when i start the laptop, even that my battery is dead, on windows it shows that is always full 100%. This means that Ac goes to battery, but in any way it doesn't come to *any chip (i don't know with names) which start the laptop (i think is bios chip maybe).
Another test i made, is after i start the laptop, i remove the battery, and then the laptop remains on, but the graphic will be blocked immediately and the only option is to shutdown.
When i get off the AC adapter from laptop, if i want to turn on again i need first to remove the battery, to push power button for 30 sec, put again battery, put AC on laptop and then it will start working.
I have disassembled and check out the power jack, and it seems very well soldered, i measure the voltage on power jack, battery, and some other chips and it seems to be ok. (note: i am not a professional user but i am very careful and i love those things, however if i don't know something i send the laptop or cellphone or whatever to a technician but this time even him doesn't know how to fix it.)
The last test that i wanted to made is to flash the bios, but unfortunately since laptop doesn't recognize the AC adapter, i can't do it, because the windows won't let me.
Bios - Phoenix ---> On bios page it shows "BIOS -- 06YA"
So, i am stuck here and waiting for help
