Hi,

This is my first post in the forum. I have a Galaxy S2 which stopped working and since I have a new phone I'd like to be able to disassemble(Already done) and use it's components independently. I have no experience in the DIY world, so I'd like to know what pieces of hardware would I need to be able to display anything i want on the screen or use it's camera without having to use it as a phone.

I'm sorry about my ignorance but I'm new in all of this.

If you are a newby in electronic I do not think you will succeed. A mobile Phone is very complex and compact. Parts are extreeme small and multilayer boards. Everything is controlled by the processor. If the thing stopped working you also need to now what is wrong with it to know what you can re-use. The display probably can can be used. What kind of microprocessors are you expert on ? I have seen someone used some telephone display on a raspberry-pi.

I am kind of a newbie but not completely. I have done an internship where I had to solder these tiny capacitors and resistors and I have studied industrial technologies so I know what i'm touching. On the other hand, I don't have experience with processors.
There is a thread on another forum that talks about removing a capacitor and short circuiting it that may fix the problem my phone has, I'll try once I get my hands on a solder.

But the main purpose is to use them and be able to control them however i want. Is that possible with the processor of the phone itself or I would have to buy a raspberry pi or arduino?
