Hii,

I want to design a board with RS232 driver.

Specifications: VCC = 3.3V

At least 1 TX (TTL -> RS232)

If suggest a low cost IC it will be useful. Thanks

Hello.

MAX232 is a cheap choice.

No sorry. its not 3.3V,

Have a look at MAX3232.
Similar to MAX232 but will work on both 3.3V and 5V

MAX3222
MAX3223
MAX3232

and so on, tell me if non of these works for you.

Hi,

ohhhh...thanks David.
You cand find ghis on your own. Many IC manufacturers have interactive selection guides. Just put in your desired interface (RS232) and then the desired supply voltage. ...

It's almost as difficult as posting in a forum ;-)

Actually why did I post this question means, I am just confused what is mean by RS232 driver? (my senior designer suggested) ..I have worked on MAX232 IC and all,but never used the word "RS232 driver" (always using MAX232 circuit,my lack of knowledge). First I thought some kind of software ;) ;) .

Hi,

when i started to develop electronic circuits, ther was no internet. We needed to read books and datasheets. Paper. But this is not available.
If we neede those paper we had to wait for weeks... if it ever received. Then we had to call sales representives for partnumbers... Then we had to ask for samples.
And we had no simulation tools.... But we did our job.

Now we all have internet. Thank God. Looking for a RS232 specification is done within seconds now. So use this opportunity. It´s a gift of time.

MAX 232 is for 5 Volt conversion and MAX3232 is for 3.3V conversion.

Ask your senior designer to give a clear picture about everything before he suggests something to you.
