Hi,

I am building an RS485 network and would like to know that is it
possible to make segments on it? I mean sometimes it's mandatory
to take off segments from the network (they will detach some tables
with clients on them).

I'll close the network where they detached the segment it'll be continous,
but will the RS485 performance degraded by the connectors?

I have 60 clients and should place 4 splits -> there will be 5 segments.

Will it work?

I need this info urgently, please help,
thanks in advance,
Zed

is noto so critical, depend of baud rate, i have a system long 1 Km based on normal power cable at 9600 bps and run without problem. with low baud rate there are less problem of reflection caused by stube

Your system should work OK.
Don't forget about termination resistors (120-180ohm) at the beginning and at the end of your longest leg.
I think you should also connect bias resistors (approx. 1,5k) on A(+) lne to +V and on B(-) line to 0V.

Thanks,

I got correct termination (130 ohm) and biasing
(700 ohm) also, according to differential line terminations docs.
And the system runs on 115k baud, on FTP cable (Foiled Twisted Pair).

thanks again,
Zed
