Hi all,
I want to test the wire length disance that RS-422 communication will work,
As per RS-422 technology it is around 4000 feet.

But to test the distance using wires, then we have diffeent wire guages so, is there any standard test procedure or design calculations to determine the distance it can work, considerng Wire guage, Stray cap,res elements, etc..

Is there any standard Spec. which we need to follow while selecting the Wire for 485/422 communication..

Thanks
Babesh..

You could just get a roll of CAT5. That's 4 bundles of 100-ohm
differential twisted pairs; use one.

Hi dick_freebird

I testedmy design with cat5e 1000ft cable and it worked fine.

Really u r suggestion gave me initial confidence to go abt this test.

Thx
