Ok..I googled this but found no clear answer..

While preparing a PCB for my converter circuits, I use some

standard circuits for my drivers, sensors, power supplies etc.

From one design to another, these do not change....what changes
only is just the power stage circuit..

So my question is..

Is it possible to have an already laid-out, pre-routed template for these sub-circuits..so that
I can sort of do a Copy-Paste ..without routing them again...

So I can concentrate only on layout and routing of the power-stage..

This will save considerable time and effort and also prevent any inadverdent errors!

Waiting for inputs people!

Oh..and I am using Altium 10...

Can you save it as a template?

Or for other designs open it and update it to a changed schematic?

@Mattylad...

In Altium 10, I can borrow an already prepared schematic in a new project,

but.. once I make the PCBdoc the corresponding components
are all in the primitive "rats nest" form..i.e they are not laid out or routed.

What I am really looking for is some sort of a workaround to beat this problem!

I think it would be really helpful for anybody who wants to make modular or
hierarchical designs...

So..any ideas?

Hi, you can try using snippets: **broken link removed** I'm guessing you're going to have to fix the linking of the PCB components with those in your sch so that altium doesn't treat the pasted pcb components as different from those in the sch and delete them. You can of course just make a template pcb project with all the sections you will be reusing pre-routed and just pull that project out each time you need to.
