how to know which direction stepper motor is face towards(east to west only) in 8051 microcontroller?

I don't know of a way to know the location of the armature without:
A) a sensor on the shaft. You can use a potentiometer, hall-effect, capacitance sensor, etc
B) running the motor past the end of travel. If you are running some sort of drive system that can handle this abuse then this is the easiest way to know the position of the motor. Printers used to do this. When you powered on they would run the cartridges belt until the ink cartridges were all the way to one end (hence the noise!).
c) Similar to B) you could make a calibration run. Run the motor to a known location either by eye or by sensors. Then you know the stepper's location each time you make a step (assuming the motor doesn't stall).

ok thnx for ur valuable idea.and if problem i ll soon post
