hybrid rf vco design

I'm a beginner in VCO design. I would like to how many methods or theory exists in RF VCO design. For an example, i have come a cross in a VCO design where circuit theory is used to derive the equations from hybrid pai model (h parameter – small signal) of a BJT, then open loop gain criteria of more or equal to one is applied and finally -ve resistance theory applied to find the value of Z1 , Z2 and Z3. Is there any other method/theory? any good books or materials which describe the design from device level (from device selection) will be good for my refference. Please do suggest if you know any.

Thanks

Re: RF VCO Design Methods

Basically any paper or RF text book explains what you want.

In RF, they usually have LC VCOs,
