Let's say I do a cascade analysis of an RF receive chain using typical component values for gain/loss and find that everything is within specs. All fine.

If I do the same analysis but assume all components are at their maximum loss/gain or similarily assume all components are at their minimum loss/gain then I will soon run into problems. The problem will be exceeding max input limit or exceeding P1dB for input or output. Also the span from minimum to maximum signal strength (dBm) will be significant at the input of the last components.

Do I just assume that I most components are close to the typical specs or what is the right approach?

Thanks.
