Why does reverse biasing a transistor prevent transistor leakage?

Thermally generated electrons cause the collector current to increase as they flow across the base emitter junction. Reverse biassing the transistor, causes them to flow outwards from the base into the bias network, so they do not flow through the B-E junction and get amplified.
