There are some type of exoctic antenna born from very intelligents and elegants ideas but practically no one use it.
As Lunemburg spheres, the Rotmans, the Parallel Plate lens are rarely used.
For my opinion this is due because parallel plate are narrowband, heavy, and allow just one linear polarization. Also, better performances may be acheived in the same volume by corrugated horns.
