I have problems in WIN98 with date and time keeping IC.
On the motherboard I can see OEC12C887 is it the same as DS12C887?
If I need to replace it with a new one do I need to read RAM and how?

ds12c887 code

It has anything to do with Windows 98 ..

Here are some hints in case you are going to replace the 12C887 RTC:

motherboard oec12c887

If I want to read contents of DS12C887 RAM and put it into another unit how can I do it?

ds12887 i oec12c887

Of course, the first sentence in my previous post should go like this: It has nothing to do .. and so on ..
Anyhow ..
It looks like you have already done some work on the DS12C887 RTC and 8051 microcontroller ..

Remove the RTC from the PC you have problems with and using the above arrangement write a short program that will read the RTC's memory and send its contnts to another PC (Hyperterminal) ..
Then use new DS12C887, write another piece of code that will write data received via serial port .. and off you go ..
