It’s a project of changing typical grass mover into remote control grass mover. I wanted to keep original design, and put independent electric drive with front steering wheels.
Firstly I have bought an Carte Garden grass mover at ebay. This machine consist an Italian engine by Tecumseh prisma 37. it was used device.
I have added an electric starter that works with 12V. interesting is that sterter rotates the engine in opposite direction, when engine is started, it moves starter in “wrong” way, thanks to that rack of the starter goes back. So when mover’s engine works, starter doesn’t have to rotate. Also good side of this solution is that you can start the mover manually – by pulling string.
I put an gel accumulator 12V and 24Ah. I also made an system that allows to charge accumulator while mover is working. For that I used magnet that originally is situated on flywheel. I put two moto coils, that as a result of magnetic pole, will charge the accumulator. Of course current from coil must be rectified. To get that I used rectify diode – IN4007 and 2,2uF condenser per each coil.
Very importand was to create rotate front axle. Without that remote control doesn’t have any sense. Provably there is no grass mover with steering front wheels, at all world. I decided to use engine from car wipes. Building this system I need to keep possibility of regulation cutting high. System I built with aluminum and steel. At maximum turn I put ending switch that secure system against burn. Current that goes to engine is limited by two resistors with coapacity 1 ohm and 50W. I also put system that center front wheels. When you press button at steering panel, front wheels goes to straight position and there is no possibility of turning them except by remote control.
