Hello,

I am Sudarshan. I amm new to Eagle software.
I need to use PTVS3V3S1UTR (Zenor diode - package - SOD 123W) and 74LVC2G14GW (pacakage - SOT -363). unfortunately I couldnt find them in the eagle library. So is there any way ?
Can I use another devices with same foot print/package ?. For example, my Schmitt trigger foot print is SOT 363. I could find diode with device name of BAS70-07S (BAS70-07) (its package is SOT363_Phillips). Similarrly for Zenor diode (Package SOD 123W), i found a diode with name DIODE-SOD123 (DIODE-) and its package is SOD 123. I am doing this because I just need to show dimesnions for PCB manufacturing (ignoring the functionalities).

Please let me know if I can use another devices with same foot print.

Thanks for the information,

Thanks and Regards,
Sudarshan.

You can use any device with the right package for dimensioning a PCB. It would be worthwhile learning how to edit and add packages and symbols - you will have to do it sooner or later. You can easily take a package from one library and put it in another and then add the package to the list of options to the "zener-diode" in the diodes library, for example. In fact there already is a SOD123 in the diodes library - you just need to add it to the zener part.

Just to add, there are some single logic devices in the 74xx-little library that should be a good starting point for your logic device.

Dear Keith,

Thank you very much for your answer.
How ever, I couldnt understood clearly on what you have said on adding ( "You can easily take a package from one library and put it in another and then add the package to the list of options to the "zener-diode" in the diodes library"). If you dont mind can you elaborate it more ? I couldnt understood how to add the package to the zener-diode. Thanks

You also have said "Just to add, there are some single logic devices in the 74xx-little library that should be a good starting point for your logic device." If you dont mind can you explain it bit further ?

Actually, Here in my case My Schmitt trigger "74LVC2G14GW " needs two inputs. The device which I found in the eagle library with same package is a diode (I have mentioned it in the earlier post). So, can I add new wires in the board/layout for the second input (as in schematic I will be having only one input )? and the same case with output (as it has two outputs).

Hello again Keith,

I am using Freeware software, so can I add the diode package to the zenor diode ?

Thanks and Regards,
Sudarshan..
