redhat 8.0 install problem on pc within intel 865 chipset

uses the d865 chipset

does anybody install rehdat 8.0 on p4 motherboard within intel 865 chipset?
after booting installer from the install cd,
the system seems not to find cdrom.
the installation source only lists NFS, ftp, and http.
anybody has the same problem?

Hi,

Do you use intel 865 motherboard? you can enter your bios setting and disable the SATA disk or other upper configure. I met the same question and resolve it through modifying the setting of BIOS. wish a good luck!

PLease set your BIOS configuration to the "most baisc" platform.

Do not use SATA. use only PATA

P4+I865 will run well on RH7.3 and RH8

im also facing problem when i install graphics card in intel865g system .video driver wont install in 865g
after in installing ic5 then i upgrade it to redhat9 .
my ic5 facing lot of problems
only bcos of video driver i upgrade to 9.
pls any one say give advice without upgrade 9 how i install video driver

my video driver require new xversion go i cant install driver on 8

Then you can read the 'README' and know how to install it.

I had install redhat9.0 on the motherboard with intel 865GV chipset.I seem work fine.Maybe you can try to use the redhat9.0.

ut i cant install the driver for redhat 8 bcos driver needs advanced version of Xversion .so i cant install it in redhat8

Hi, you can't install it under graphics interface, I install it under text mode and everything is well. I'm running ic5 too.

better you try to install with other cd bcoz sometimes it happens some cd works and other doesnot...

I suggest you install suse 9.0pro instead of rh8.0. Suse 9pro is better than rh8.0 for EDAtools and Hardware.

NO，the driver downloaded from intel website can't solve my 845G video driver problem.
The solution for me is update XFree to be XFree4.4 with the proper glibc 2.2 or 2.3 ever 2.1.
But this is proper for rh8.0 ,9.0 rhel3.0,not for 7.2
maybe it is a good solution for you

This Intel chipset give too many troubles to Linux graphics. Maybe you could search related items from many linux forums. Another method is trying Fedora Core 2.
