Recommend me resources to learn about ARM architecture

I am a new guy for IC design
and want to learn ARM
so pls somebody tell me
how to setup the ARM self-learning enviroment ?
Can use Altera Startix to try ?
what kind HW I need ?
what kind SW I need ?

do u want to develop an application on ARM or u want to learn the architecture of the ARM microprocessor so as to be a microprocessor designer ?
if the second one, then first u go for ARM ARchitectural Manual .. it's available from the internet .. it's good and includes the legacy version of the ARM architecture .. with the complete ISA ..
If ur question was about the first , then it's much easier .. master some high level language like C .. then try one of the ARM compilers .. read some examples coming along with the compiler , then one by one u will get the feeling of how systems are developed on ARM .. u can also make use of some ARM development books available on the forum here ..

also if you want to use phulips ARM processor then go to philips website and download the LPC user manual .the manual is of great use.
also visit the site arm.com

For s/w requirerments one should use keil Arm or ADS you can download it from www.keil.com ,and www.arm.com
these IDEs will give you idea about arm.


There is GCC C compilerwhich is free you have to download from
