But that product is not free.
At this stage, its impossible for me to convince my boss. I must start some study first.

why we need rtos

HI VIRUS

You didn't mention that it was for a COMERCIAL PROJECT ..Anyhow you can get UcosI ... is FREE !

when do we need an rtos?

Sorry for that. Now I notice that I was providing not much information for my request.

So here is it.

I have some knowledges in Microchip’s microcontroller. I intend to start my study with PIC18 series. Is UcosI support Microchip 18 series?

recommend of

There is a RTOS called SALVO .. is also comercial ..but there is a clone called JACOS ..

I don't know about UCOS I but UCOS II is support 18 series well.

There is a port available for PIC 18XX. To compile it you must get UCOS II sources (someone posted in this forum).

picoos elektroda

I used uITRON, it is so light, recommend it.

why do we need rtos

Thanks to all that suggest.
After sometime of study, here is my progress.

I start with uC/OS-II, even it not working at first, but I manage to get through it. Now on my way to puchase the great book wrote by Jean. Yes I know someone post it in this forum, but I want a hard copy, and I think the book is second edition now.

While waiting for the book, I may start looking for other RTOS.

From previous post by mountain, I tried to search Google for uITRON, but can't find a download page. Are demo for uITRON available?

Thanks & regards,
virus

I got my uItron large ... i use uItron for MIPS 4Kc ... what version u used ... that's RTOS is more complete than other smaller one like uCos

pic18 + rtos

one thing that I think should be thought about before choosing any RTOS is these questions:
do I really need a RTOS ?
couldn't I do the job without a RTOS ?
when one inserts an extra block of code in his project he also inserts potential bugs and complexity. so it should only be done if it is really necessary.

picoos osek

If your are looking for an RTOS for PIC18 series, your can use PICos18.
It is GPL, full preemptive, based on OSEK standard.
