I want to control a 230V load R=17ohm L=30uH by controlling the angle.
Triac for example BTA16 or 20A variant, optotriac MOC3052 or 53.
The manufacturer recommends this connection

If I use this simple wiring.
R limits the max current through the optotriac, is 390 ohm in SMD size 1206 a good choice?
Snubbler Rs 33hm 2W power rating and Cs 10nf foil type X2, MOV 275V or something else?

ST recommends a different connection in AN5114

I can't judge in any way how important it is to complicate life in this way.
What would you recommend?
If connected from ST, what type and voltage resistance of C and individual resistors?

Thanks
