R/C receiver antenna

I have made a test circuit for a radio control system at 72MHz based on the design from:
**broken link removed**

I am having a problem of antenna placement. The antenna is about 36 inch wire hanging from the PCB. When I place the antenna on the ame surface where the RX is placed I get servo jitter at the output but when I hang the antenna down or tie it at a little height then the jitter reduces.

What could be the reason for this and what is the solution?
