Does TSOP 1738 modules only detects modulated IR or even the IR from sunlight and other devices??

Because my IR module detect ambient light and I thought it only outputs high when it receives 38KHz modulated IR...

plz help me...tnx

High is the normal idle state of TSOP1738.

The output will go LOW when it receives 38KHz IR, but only for a short time, as there is a maximum mark time (see the data sheet).

The receiver is good at rejecting ambient light and sunlight, within reason.

sori...but would it be good for outdoor use just using 38KHz modulated IR and a IR module Receiver w/o a decoder..??

38KHz modulated IR =========>>>>>========== TSOP1738

I have never heard of 38KHz IR being used outdoors, so I have no idea whether it would work. I suspect that direct sunlight might be too much for the receiver to cope with, but I really don't know.

When you say 38KHz modulated, I hope you mean modulated with something like a 500Hz square wave. That should work, or anything from about 100Hz to about 2KHz.

Steady 38KHz will not work.

Hope this helps

tnx sir...can you suggest anything that would work for me??

yes_secreto i am also working on a same project...

If you are using just 38Khz IR it will not do much... in fact i am just having a range of few cm's(1 - 2 cm's)
You have to modulate it on a 1Khz Carrier as stated in above threads..

This Circuit will help you..
This is having a good range around 2 to 3 m..
Just have a look on it..

This is what above post wants to say..
