12-220 volt inverter

i want to make inverter 12 to 220 volt
i can bulid transformer
what is the best for main transformer 500va is to roll dc(12 v) line i mean big diameter --primary line first
or to roll the small diameter(220) line
for heat and noise

Primary first. This will minimize the flux leakage (leakage inductance) and inprove the coupling.

Yes +12V first.

Most often a high current primary will consist of multiple parallel windings instead of one large diameter wire. Copper tape is also popular choice too, as it has very low flux leakage (low leakage inductance).

Another point, +12V is a low voltage primary. Consider increasing the primary voltage (i.e +24V, +36V, etc.) This will reduce the switching currents and losses. Increasing efficiency and decreasing the cost of all of the components.
