Hi,

I am currently designing a buck converter for my solar cell projects to step down to 12v charging a lead acid battery. My questions is that any difference of choosing the power transistor between P mos and N mos for my buck converter ?

I have done some readings on buck from internet and mostly of them used N mos, why ? Is there any limitations using P mos?

Thank you.

Pmos used to be more expensive and have limited specs.

But more important nowadays is choosing between Nmos and Pmos in order to keep the schematic simple in regards to the steering of the gate.
