Question about Varistor

Dear all,

As i know, varistor is used for EMI and ESD purpose. But, for a GSM handset, which part is needed to protect by it (RF, baseband, or keypad). And also, How should i choose between the varisotr and ESD diode for ESD purpose.

In RF you need a component with low capacitance (for low distorcion) and fast ....
