The LM675 data sheet shows a capacitor and resister in series from the output to ground in the drawing of a non inverting amplifier under typical applications. Why is that needed, and is it always needed?

Be careful - the LM675 is not unity gain stable and so the Zobel network make be more applicable to prevent oscillations.
