pulse skipping modulation

Hi,
I am designing a controller for a boost SMPS. I would like to make use of Pulse Skipping Modulation technique for this purpose. But in most applications I see the usage of PWM technique and not PSM. Why is it so?

It will be great if you can share some information about PSM and its application in SMPS controller design.

thanks and regards,
Febin

pulse skipping

Hi,
I have applied pulse skipping method for controlling AC Mains input for controlling heater. I used Pic 12F675. But never thought about using it in smps modulation application. Have you got any paper on that? If so, please provide. Thanks.

pulse skip modulation

No problem: comparator + optocoupler in current sense

psm (pulse skip-ping modulation

Hi,
Yes, I find problem as I could not understood your suggestion. Please elaborate. Thanks.

pulse skipping smps

Hi,
I think pwm method is better than psm in smps. I tried to apply psm in smps but find it difficult than pwm. Anybody having better idea? Thanks.

pulse skipping in smps

@ tahmid

How did u implement PSM??? all that you can do is,

GateDrive of MOSFET/Bipolar = 0 if SMPSOut<Vref
GateDrive of MOSFET/Bipolar = Pulse if SMPSOut>Vref

rt?

(this is for Boost topology)

thanks
