Pt100 maximum current

Hi everybody,

I plan to use a Pt100 thin film temperature sensor for compensating lead acid battery temperature during float charging. It looks like the matching of the charging voltage to temperature is important.

I can not find in the data sheets the maximum safe current allowed in order not to destroy the Pt100. I know too high current will false the measure but this problem will be tackled later.
I don't yet know wich Maker's Pt100 I 'll find.

If someone has the maximum current value for some Pt100 his answer will be the welcome.

Doesn't sound reasonable. Try the other way around. A Pt100 current that is low enough not to adulterate the temperature reading is surely safe for the sensor. Think of 1 or 2 mA.

On the other hand, Pt100 sensors have an operation range of at least 400 °C and can possibly handle considerable higher temperatures. So it's not too easy to damage it at all.
