orcad family release 9.2 lite edition

recently, i use pspice capture CIS by this version to simulate some circuit.

I running AC Sweep/ Noise Analysis for a common emitter circuit. Probe that i use is VDB (dB magnitude of voltage).

So, is the output that i get should be gain in dB? And the value can't more than 0 (above x-axis/in the positive part of y-axis)?

Actually, what this probe try to simulate?

thx for help.

Hi,

If you want to display the gain of your common emitter schematic, in the PROBE windows :

click on Trace\Add Trace... menu.

in the Trace Expression line (bottom of the neew opened window), type :

DB(Vout/Vin), then click OK.

Assuming that Vout is a label you put at the output node of your schematic and Vin is a label you put at the input node of your schematic.

PROBE will then display the gain equal to 20log(Vout/Vin) in db for the frequency range you choose in the AC sweep setup menu.
