I used to made amplifier ( for home stereo system) with TDA 7318D and TDA 7317 as a preamplifiers controlled by I2C rail. All with kit N.E. Nr 313k and 135k. I admit that I made that because I’m lazy, besides I wanted to check if the peans for those systems are true.
I even made a casing, everything installed very nice and…unfortunately flattering opinions about those systems are not true.
Amplifier works but not poor sound so I throw it on the scrap heap. After some time I decided to try it again this time with TDA 1074 and TDA 1029.
From “old” construction, only transformer were worth to use (250 VA toroid 2x28V~) and amplifier board.
After I had study of TDA diagrams I started to designed board and thinking how to fit it to casing.
Why two TDA? – because first one Is responsiblem for tone regulation, second is for gain and loudness.
TDA 1074 are not like TDA 7317 and18..they are much better. High voltage gives high dynamic, but “pick” is still without any noice. Only DC is used so all device is simple, besides it is easy to make MUTE -20dB as I did. Just add to potentiometer voltage, another viltage divider. Only tone regulation needs some time to make.
Input switcher board is typical , catalogue TDA 1029 application, very easy to use, unfortunately diagram’s have disappeared somewhere. But as I said it is very simple ( only a few easy set elements)
Sound is much better than it looks. 2x60W is rally enough, in 20m2 room even too much.
