Hi all, i wonder if anyone can help me! im using proteus which ive used for a while but never really gone into the simulation side of it. Im having some trouble getting oscillators to run?! ive tried various op amp and logic gate oscillators and they just sit there showing their original state. Ive tried graphing the output and using the oscilloscope but no luck am i missing something really obvious?

Thanks in advance for any pointers

I am not familiar with Proteus - nevertheless, I suppose it will provide all the simulation features other simulation packages have.
Hence, my question: What kind of simulation did you command (AC, TRAN, DC,..) ?

Looking at your attached circuit...

The inverter needs to be replaced by a schmitt trigger inverter.

I tried a simulation. It results in oscillations, but they are at an impossibly fast rate. The capacitor charges to Vcc/2, then does not change much.

There needs to be hysteresis. You must either use an inverting schmitt trigger, or add components which create hysteresis action.
