P*otel error message

Hi!

I am in the middle of the design of a PCB, I have placed some components, but when I wanted to start routing (manually), it put this message to the screen:
www.buenos.cjb.hu/kepek/ERROR.bmp

When I try to modify another PCB with manual routing, it works fine (the software works), but with this circuit, it don't want. I have designed numbers of PCBs with this version of protel, but I newer saw this error message.

there are many net classes, Power/GND layers...

What may cause this problem?

Added after 33 minutes:

if I switch off the internal planes, it works. But I need the planes for
-impedance driven routing
-Signal integrity analysis

what should I do?

Re: Protel error message

You assign the layer as mixed plane . not as cam plane.. try it out

what is:
-mixed plane
-cam plane
?

Re: Protel error message

The error you are seeing is most often caused by using a comma (,) as a separator in numerical values. Some languages use a comma as a decimal separator, but Protel expects to see a period (.).

If you are using AD2004, set the regional settings to an English based setting. That will make the decimal separator a period.

If you are using DXP, Open the Regional and Language Options. From the Regional Options tab, select the customize button. Make sure all decimal separators are set to the period, then apply these settings. You don't need to resart the program for the change to be effective.

The answer to your other question is that a "mixed" layer uses polygons on a signal layer for plane connections. A "cam" layer is a true plane. If you do as I suggested above, you can use the normal plane layers, as well as signal layers.

THANX.
Tomorrow, I will try it out.
Now, I go to sleep.

I didn't find language settings, but I have changed the measurement unit to imperial from metric. It works now.
not too nice to view everything in mils and inches...

I can route wires , but not between parts. So, it is not a solution.
where are the Regional and Language Options?
In the windows? or in the Protel?
I use altum DXP 2004.

Re: P*otel error message

Regional settings can be found in the Windows Control Panel dialog.

1. Click on the Windows Start menu and select Settings»Control Panel.

2. Open the Regional and Language Options.

3. From the Regional Options tab, select the customize button.

4. Make sure all decimal separators are set to a period, then apply these settings.
