ac97 programming

I am working on a Audio player using ECOS using an Intel 810 chipset with an AD1885 AC97 audio codec. I am having some problem with the sampling rate(too fast). I am baffled as the AD1885 don't have the crystal installed and yet it works. Contradicting the datasheet but I am lost in try to get the correct sampling rate.

Any information or suggestion is very welcome.

Thanks.

check the clk-in pin out for
1.the clock generator(maybe ICS/realtek/cypress) pinout on the mother boad.
2.the southbridge clk-in pinout
3.the clk-in of the codec

Some MB use the clock buffer to cost down the cost.
