I need to connect 16 sensors to MCU. The sensors are supplied from the same sources (+5V) as the MCU, but are connected to the MCU 5-10 m long cable. All in outdoor environments.A little scared that everything not left at the first storm.Unfortunately, I do not have much space board.
How would you solve the I/O protection of the processor?
Sensor output is Open colecctor with 10k resistor on +5 V.

Based on cables you have used, u can choose an amplifier or repeater to prevent the loss of signals during communication. Try to choose the devices based on your board size.

Information from sensor is digital 1/0 , I do not have to worry about the signal level. This is me purely to protect the MCU input from the voltage induced into the cable during a thunderstorm.

For digital signal, there is no need for any protection.. If u are worrying about high voltage from sensor, u can then use any circuit-breaker.

OK and to ask
There are some integrated protection for 4/8 ports?
I have a little space on the PCB
