gravi said:Hi Everybody,
Is here any one working on SIM300 if so, is there any thing to be added other than the circuit provided in Schematics provided in Ver 2.02. Because I getting RDY after Power on but it's not detecting sim card when sim card is placed. I have used 6 pin simcard holder and sim presence pin is grounded using 10K pull down resister.Do i need to set any thing else using AT commands or any other Hardware required.
Thankyou,
Ravi

gravi said:Hi Tramp,
Check the input voltage to modem, it should be greater than 3.6V-4.5 and it,s better to maintain 4.2V.
you will get an message saying "NORMAL POWER DOWN" only when you give "AT+CPOWD" commanding modem to shut down through software and before getting shut down it sends an message reporting "NORMAL POWER DOWN". you can find the behaviour of SIM VDD along with SIM PRESENCE pin and this behavour is very clearly explained in my previous reply to Mr. pisoiu. AT+CSDT command is used to Know whether Sim has been placed or not(which does'nt comes to picture right know). verify hardware design document Ver2.02 pdf
and AT commands documents Ver1.04 pdf which are available on net.
Thankyou,
Ravi

Got PCB designed especially for that Connector.
pisoiu said:You can solder it with almost any station, but definetely you'll need a pcb with solder mask, some flux material, very well controlled ammounts of solder material, and what's most important : good hand and experience. You can also solder it with hot air station, but you'll have to be carefull, the plastic from the connector is very sensitive to overheating. It is not impossible.

pisoiu said:I am sorry, but I don't know any breakout board. All the tests I've done on it were with thin wires soldered directly on the connector, without any pcb. After the tests completion, I've made a PCB for it.
You don't have to test your skills on the modem, in the worst case, if you don't have experience with such fine pitch, you'll destroy one connector, which worth far less. You have another choice, I am convinced that in any GSM repair shop you'll find somebody to solder it for you, but you'll need the PCB.
