Problem with LPT port under WinXP

Hi to all

I porting my windows 98 programm to windows xp sp2 .


My programm using Ecp parallel port to access Ecp Fifo . I am using device driver


for acessing port registers . Programm works well on windows 98 but it runs


some time on windows xp then stops working What is the problem same PC is


used for programm .

access parrallel port in XP is restricted you have to use some types of drivers to use it.

Added after 1 minutes:

you can also use socket programming in .net framework

you can also try installing the totalio.sys driver from www.talkingelectronics.com
the driver is originally intended to enable the PIC programming software, IC-Prog to work in WinXP/2K. the program uses the serial port to program the PIC MCU. i think this should also enable other programs that directly access the serial and parallel ports to work. i'm not sure though...
