Hello everybody:

Inside a workspace, when I design a microstrip circuit in a schematic of a cell and I optimize the appropriate variables to reach the expected goals, I generate the layout on the basis of the schematic design for doing the fullwave analysis (ASD creates automatically the layout with the appropiate dimensions in the same cell where schematic design is located).

Later, in the layout view, I create an emSetup and a EM Model for doing a finest optimization of the appropiate variables in a new schematic through a co-simulation. The problem is when I reference the component in the new schematic, ADS loads the correct view of the component but not the EM Model: ADS loads by default the circuit designed in the schematic, and this isn't correct.

The problem is solved by creating the layout and the EM Model in a different cell respect the first schematic, but in this case I have to create the layout manually and is faster and much more handy that ADS creates the layout automatically (I have to do about 10 designs). Then, could i modify the netlist so that ADS load the EM Model of the cell and not the previous circuit design in the schematic of the same cell? Could I indicate ADS that creates the layout automatically in a differente cell?

Thanks in advance for your attention.

In your simulation schematic select your microstrip cell and then Edit > Component > Choose View for Simulation... and select the emModel view for simulation. The same function is available in the pop-up menu in the schematic and on the toolbar just to the left of the simulate button.

The emModel view is below the schematic view in the default heirarchy policy list which is why the schematic view is used otherwise. You can also create a custom heirarchy policy if required but just setting it for this specific instance is the quickest method.
