problem with dspic33 and sensor

I use a dspic33 series pic and a sensor which need 5v supply. The problem is that the microcontroller use 3.3V supply. From what i know , sensor and microcontroller need to be connected with the same power supply .

what can i do to solve this problem ???????

Use separate supplies, with a common ground. They don't have to be connected to the same supply.

1-u acn use 5v supply but to connect with micro controller u should use a resister which will drop 5v to 3.3..

2-it will also do good if u supply 5v from a adapter and then drop the voltage by using suitable resisters.it works

No, that is a terrible idea.

It is much better to use a proper voltage regulator to drop 5V to 3.3V

use LM1117 for regulating supply which will having 5V input and 3.3v ouput. and use 5V to other peripherals.

Guys my problem is that i want to use power supply of 3.3V and i need to provide power to sensors which they need 5V.

Is this possiple??????

For example can i find any regulating supply with 3.3V input and 5V output ??????

Never do that, it is a bad way to power any IC, as internal resistances and other varying load resistances will reduce your voltage further down, eventually your IC will reset or simply does not work.

What you need is called - Step-Up DC/DC Converter or Step-Up (Boost) Converter or Voltage booster. For example: These are what used in most of the LCD's of your smartphones, thats how your smartphone LCD is backlit with just 3.7v of input from battery.
Just search Google with any of above said terms.

If you want to go other way :
Use voltage regulator S1117/LM1117 to step down the 5v voltage to 3.3v.

Guys i have little confused .How to increase 3.3V to 5 V ? tanmay.dash12 the link that you posted don't present the input voltage .

for input voltage u shoul be taking
1> adapter of 12v
2> 9 -o-9 ct transformer with power supply ckt of 7812 ic(78 means + and 12 means 12 volt) (+12 v)

U can get any desired voltage by just changing the value of resistors in lm 317..i had been using this and is really of greaty help try this
