I am programing an AT90S8538 using Dontronics DT006 (Codevision AVR). I can flash the micro a few times but after a while the micro seems to just die. This has happened with about 10 of these micro's The parallel port interface that I am using is

Parallel port Microcontroller pin
2 ----330R----- MOSI
5 ----330R----- MISO
4 ----330R----- Reset
18-25 GND

Does this sound right? I have heard of another configuration which has
7----------------330R MOSI
10--------------------- MISO
6----------------330R SCK
9----------------330R Reset
16-25-----------------GND

Any ideas?

the first one looks wrong, because you need a clock (sck).
