I have an Altera DE2 board and want to connect it to computer using Altium Designer, I tried to connect them using USB-Blaster but Altium Designer did not found the board on the Device View.

I have an Parallel JTAG cable but my PC does not have Parallel port.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem? Thanks a lots!

There is a 1 year old thread started in Altera forum with the same issue featuring a DE2-115 but absolutely no replys
The DE2 and DE2-115 are very similar both featuring a built in usb-blaster.
I will post the link in a following post if I'm able to.
---
Just created an account here cause the topic is fresh here in an effort to bump the issue.
---
Installing AD10 on my pc gave the message: no support for parallel driver on win x64....
maybe it works on 32-bit windows, where you can then try adding a cheap
usb-parallel cable or
a pci/pci express parallel I/O card.

Altium has an external usb jtag adaptor on their product list, but it seems to be a discontinued product out of stock.
However:
I also now have a Nanoboard3000 which includes a jtag header with pins for both the hard and soft chain
So this can be used instead of the usb-blaster.
---
But the de2-115 uses the built in usb-blaster for the jtag chain and has no "official" jtag connector which may be the same on the DE2 board
(I havn't checked the DE2 schematics yet, and have no physical board), but there is a 10-pin socket labeled j14 which possibly could be a jtag port.
---
The schematics released for the de2-115 do not include the usb-blaster circuit or the 10-pin j14 port.
Hope to find a solution
Greetings

-- Update
I found the schematic for the DE2 board including the usb-blaster circuit.
It has an jtag socket (jp3) which probably corresponds to the j14 socket on the DE2-115, but
it seems it can only be used to program the max cpld's containing the usb-blaster firmware.
In the other end the jtag signals are connected directly to the cyclone fpga's giving no easy access to the jtag chain....

So this leaves IMHO only 2 workable options.
1. Flash the DE2 boards max cpld's with Altium JTAG compatible firmware (Not so realistic).
2. Hope for a Altera usb-blaster plugin for Altium Designer (Why not ... Altium sales talk a lot about 1 platform for everything related so IMHO it makes perfect sense..?).
