I am new to electronics. Recently, I bought an IR RX/TX. I would like to know the principle behind it so as to detect object. After surfing on net i understood that the Transmitter transmits and it gets reflected( if some object is there) and this is picked up by the RX. My doubt is what changes in the RX LED :S In one of the example I saw Obstacle Detection Using IR-led-Photodiode , the IR is connected to an ADC. So the voltage changes (assuming its the voltage that is converted to digital)?? Please let me know of it. Also I dont know where to use transistors, capacitors and resistors and what values. How do you know where to use these ? In the above example what is the role of the transistor ?. Please let me know if you can help.
Thanks in advance
P.S. I am really stupid
