Hi,
I want to study about power supplies. I know basic electronics but I want to know more indepth about power supply circuit design. Can anyone suggest some books or any other matereials regarding this? Any help is apreciated. Thankyou

So, I want to know more about switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). I have a general idea about SMPS, but I want to design SMPS circuits with proper details. When I search for details, I get resources that are non-structured or incomplete. This is why I need advice.

Hi,

Power supply is a wide range.
I recommend to refine what you are really interested in.

There are usual AC DC power supplies for elelctronics. Maybe up to 60V and up to 10A. But even here is a wide bandwidth. They may be used for testing, so they need to be variable in voltage and current. Single or symmetrical. Linear or switched mode. low noise, high power, high efficiency ...

There are low power capacitive ones

But there are power supplies for lasers, with very narrow pulse widths, still high power.

There are power supplies for medical use, where you need special care about safety and leakage currents.

There are industrial high power ones for chemical processes (I´ve build some up to 1MW).

There are AC AC power supplies ... maybe one or more phases, maybe variable frequency ....

There are DC DC power supplies, isolated or not..

And there are the rules and regulations. I already mentioned safety, but there also is EMI/EMC and so on.

Because this field is so huge, I can not recommend to study all at once.
For each single use case you will find books, but usually every simiconductor manufacturer gives informations in Appication notes and design notes. They tell you what to care for and how to calculate them part values. And how to do PCB layout (GND plane, trace widths, trace lengths, inductance, sensing techniques, heat spreading ...)

Hi,

so you want a complete and structured book for everything about SMPS. A huge field.

Just to give you numbers: I expect it to have several hundreds (500 maybe 1000) of pages and may cost way beyond $100 and may take years to fully understand.

I never used such a complete book, thus I can not give any specific recommendation.

Unless you are a genius, you wont impact seriously in SMPS design unless you use a simulator.
So try the free LTspice...give yourself a spec and design one.
The simulator is far from perfect, but as long as you appreciate its shortcomings you will be fine.
But remember, if you get a sim of an smps working, it means nothing...but if you cant get a representative sim of your desired smps
working, then your real , designed and built smps will never work.

If you dont use a sim, then far a start, how will you check your excel calcs havent got a typo?

Attached please find LTspice examples.
