I've had an idea (which is probably dangerous for me)
Could anyone tell me if I can convert, simply, efficiently and cheaply, 80 watts of a +24VDC Power supply (mean well HRP-450-24) into a +24VDC to -24VDC

Why dangerous ? i hope you know your out put power will be lower than 80 watts . you can simply use a buck-boost converter to yield -24 volts , but another idea , is using a flyback or forward converter to achieve , simultaneous 24 volts .

Many thanks for the guidance - I will investigate the two options. - Although because you mentioned the losses I think it may be a none starter....
I had worked out that the most efficient setup was to use a mains to 24VDC PSU,(which feeds other kit) then use a 24VDC to 48VDC (RSD-200B-48) to feed some LED's at distance.
I was trying to save the efficiency losses in the 24/48 converter (8Watt 11%) with the idea of using -+24VDC (a) not knowing if the LEDs would work off this +-24VDC) (and b)not knowing if +-24VDC had the same transmission effect as +48VDC)
