Left or right?

Hi,

I have a remote control (433MHz).I would lke to design a special detector to know where is the remote control: left or right?

The idea is to use 2 detectors with a separator made of steel (20mm*20mm*2mm), and to compare the strengh of the signal in each detector.

Left or right?

It seems straightforward enough, though if you used
a pair
of lensed phototransistors / photodiodes their inherent
directionality might not need the separator (if you mounted
them at skewed angles).

Two pullup resistors and a comparator, and you've got your
left/right answer.

Consider, that the "separator" has a size of a few percent of the 433 MHz wavelength. It's screening effect can be compared
to a nano particle in visible light, the latter is simply shining around it.

That't not the way to design antennas with directivity.

By the way:
-I told about 433MHz, but it can be different if it's better.
-It's for indoor use (my bedroom, 6m*4m)
