PlayStation 2 IC chip

fairchild sd787a

Would any one in here have any information about the Playstation 2 embedded IC thats located inside the remote controller for the Playstation 2. I took my playstation 2 remote controller apart and i found the IC # of the IC which is SD787A and the manufacturer is Fairchild, ROHM, and Motorola but does any one in here know any thing about this chip or information as to were i can find a data sheet for it to see how it works.

If you mean the remote controller, as far as I know, it's a 8bit MCU chip and many IC company have the solution for this application. The principle is almost the same that output a serial of pulse through optical BJT and transmit infrared lights. Some chip use GPIO output the pulse, some of them use SIO.
