picked up a free peltier fridge with broken PS

the cooler and fans are ok.
On the power supply board, two 100uf 200vdc caps are popped on top so they are bad.
What would happen If I put in 600uf 200vdc caps instead of the 100uf?
I have them for free.

Otherwise what about using an ATX PS? Can the fridge thermostat turn on the ATX PS? There are 2 wires you short that turns on ATX PS, would the power good line if unshorted turn it off or is it just a toggle?

I also have several AT power supplies that turn on and off using a manual switch. Would the thermostat handle the current flow?
well I just found that the thermostat is a variable resistor that runs from 16k to 22k

Capacitor tolerances on the primary side are not critical but going from 100uF to 600uF is a big jump and the surge current at switch on would probably blow the fuse.

You might be able to use an ATX power supply if it can supply the current. Peltier pumps need quite a lot of current and only the +5V supply on an ATX supply is capable of heavy load.

An ATX supply according to the ATX Power Supply Design Guide has similar current delivery for 12V and 5V rails. This is due to the fact that both CPU core and high performance graphic cards are supplied by 12V. There are two 12V outputs that can be paralled.
