Is it necessary to use a Type B USB connector with PIC18F2550. Cant I use a type A one. Specifically, I am making a lite version of PICKIT2 and could get my hands only on the type A connector. Will the programmer work??

Just ensure you get the pin out correct - plenty of pin out diagrams on the web
