[PIC] pic16f88 and port amplify

hello guys!!
i have a question.
im using pic 16f88 connected to some sensors and a buzzer its like an alarm, my question is can i amplify the output of the pin witch is connected to the buzzer so i can have much louder sound? (the sound driver is the pic so the buzzer is not making any sound if i just connect it to a battey) for example the port output is +5v can i make it +9 and how?

Are you using a piezo buzzer? If so, then maybe you don't need to amplify the voltage from +5V to +9V.Piezo buzzers usually work well within +2V to +12V.If that is not the case, then you will need a level translator.
 

Yes, but you will need a higher voltage than the PIC can handle. Use the PIC to drive a transistor (or a transistor array like the ULN3003/ULN2803) and use that transistor to switch the higher voltage. If you are already regulating a higher voltage down to 5V for the PIC, you may be able to use the unregulated (higher) voltage to drive the buzzer.

Incidentally, it isn't a good idea to drive a buzzer directly from a PIC anyway. The inductive types will produce voltage spikes that can damage the port pin and both they and the capacitive piezo types will probably draw too much current.
