Hello Guys

i was thinking of Buying this Programmer But i wanted to ask you first
is it a good choice?
does it have its own software or it should be used with MPLAB?
i dont know if its an Original or Clone one So is there any consideration to check about before buy it ?

thx

I'm not sure which programmer you refer to but beware of clones that do not have programmable VPP because they will only work on some devices. A real Pickit3 will works will almost all PIC devices and most Microchip memory devices too.

Unlike Pickit2 which had a fixed internal operating system, Pickit3 downloads modules from it's host according to the specific needs of the device being programmed. this means you have to use the official programming software unless someone has managed to emulate it. The program is MPLAB IPE (Integrated Programming Environment) which will work on it's own without starting MPLABX but might rely on it being installed to share it's resources. IPE is available for Windows, Linux and OSX.

Brian.

how to check if its an original or a clone one?
so you suggest it as a good programmer ?

A real Pickit3 should have the Microchip logo on it and be bought from a Microchip reseller.
The Pickit3 is a good programmer in my experience (I've had one for years and used it on many different PIC18, PIC24/dsPIC33 MCUs.
The PicKit4 has just been released but I have not had any experience with it and I have no idea of the price difference compared to the Pickit3.
