hiii;
i have hp1005 printer but i want to buy new one
so which is best printer to print on transparency paper to make pcb film
canon or hp laser printer
i found hp1102 and canon 6030 .
please help me to make good pcb film .

Just about any laser printer will give the same image quality. I use a Brother and an Epson, they work equally well. Make sure you use OHP film designed to work in a laser printer, the types for ink jets do not have a high melting temperature and they may permanently damage the printer.

You can even consider using a photo paper for toner transfer instead of the OHP sheet. Any laser printer works just fine.

transparency film - not toner transfer! It's a different principle altogether. OHP film is used with photo developer and can be used thousands of times, toner transfer can only be used once per print (if you are lucky!).

I'm not sure if all laser printers produce equal transparency film quality for PCB exposure. I'm tempted to say, all laser films are equally bad compared to real photo films...
Density is generally poor and exposure time respectively critical.

I find them 'adequate' but as you say, the density isn't perfect. The Brother printer here is good enough that the OHP film can be fed through it twice and still give excellent registration (good enough for 0.2mm tracks) while giving approx double density. Modern printers are far better at producing consistent large areas too, older models were poor in that respect, I suspect because of charge dissipation on the drum but new ones are very good.

I've used ink as well but it requires a film coated with a matt surface and that seems to absorb some of the UV during exposure. I have reservations about how long the artworks may last, that coating feels quite rough and may scuff away after a while.

Real photo film is undoubtedly best, but impractical for small scale users and experimenters.

thank all.
now
1-the best laser printer is brother laser printer for printing on transparency paper ?

2-low cost inkjet canon printer vs laser printer ? who is winner

I use a Brother HL4150D laser and Epson PX710W inkjet but you will find the media (transparency paper) plays a bigger part in the quality than the printer itself. If you use inkjet, be sure to allow plenty of time for the ink to fully dry, it takes a lot longer on transparency film than on normal paper! If you use it before it is completely dry, it sticks to the PCB and both are ruined.

thank's
i will try buy low cost canon inkjet and try it.
