Hi,

I am new on Altium since I moved from OrCad. I have created a footprint library with lot of different mounting holes (MH) (plated, non-plated, various diameter, and so on...) I have extorted this lib to Altium lib.

I used to place pcb MH from footprint library in OrCad, just inserting a new->>component , sellecting a footprint from lib and marking "not in netlist" check box in part properties. So when I update schematic and generating new netlist MH stays in my pcb design.

I wonder if there is some similar option in Altium designer, because when I place-->>component in my PCB design everything is ok until I update PCB document from schematic file and then inserted holes disappears.

Can anyone, please, advise me.

create a schematic library for the Mounting hole(place in the schematic sheet) and give the same Designator that is present in the PCB.Don forget that the Mounting hole must be be present in the schematics in order to call it to the pcb or vice versa

Is there any other way? I don't like idea to include mechanical symbols like holes, heat sinks and so on, in my schematic file. Schematic should only be electrical drawing...

You are right about schematic....
Only you can do is finish your artwork first then at the end you can enter MHOLE. so there is no design updation and no MHOLE will disappear....

when you have udate design window open there is option where it asks for components to be removed.
So MH being not the part of your schematic will it will ask you when you update your design to remove these, here you have to untick it and so it will be there on your PCB.
You have to untick every time you do a design update from schematic to PCB

I place the mounting hole in Layout. Look the "Layout" libraries and select: MTHOLE1, MTHOLE2 or MTHOLE3. Place the hole on the board where you want.
Is simple.

Thank you khanna_gunjan. This is exact option that I was looking for.
