my doubt is what basis they selecting PCB material for pcb design.what parameter we should consider .little bit knowledge i have in this but not clear.
1.power board
2.high speed
3.mixed signal
4.rf board.
Some elements (short answer !) for core selection :
- is the pcb flexible or rigid ?
- If your circuit must withstand high temperature, you should select high Tg
- if you have high frequency signal, you should care about dielectric loss
- if your environment is chemically aggressive or should not be contaminated you should perhaps have a look on halogen-free materials
- is price an issue ?
As a first selection for pcb material I would startwith the most important properties of the pcb material as a first selection. (Td, Tg, Dk, Df)
Of course you need to know what these properties stand for!
This will narrow down your search for the best material. On the Isola website these properties are used as a primary key for material selection.
You can have a look at **broken link removed**.
In high speed board design based on frequency and dielectric loss they are selecting pcb materials.
Any standard will be there in market like.
up to 6ghz use FR-4 material ,
above 6ghz use isola,
20ghz use rogger
PCB material selection can be very complex, you need to take multiple elements into consider. For begineers like you, it's important that you get a detailed PCB Material introduction and selection guide https://www.pcbcart.com/pcb-capability/pcb-materials.html
